Tallapoosa School of Art
Tallapoosa School of Art is located near Dadeville, a small town in Central Alabama, on the shores of Lake Martin, a pristine 44,000-acre reservoir on the Tallapoosa River. The studio, accommodations, and surrounding acreage are nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Our workshops include plein air oil, pastel, and watercolor painting, and studio painting lessons taught by some of the country’s finest teachers and artists.
Plein air workshops are offered in the fall and spring when the weather is temperate and the lake is quiet. Here you will experience painting outdoors in calm, colorful, undisturbed pine and hardwood forests that surround the still waters of the lake, which boasts 750 miles of shoreline.
Studio workshops and artist demonstrations are held in our rustic mountainside studio, with northern light-facing windows and panoramic prospects of woods and water. All classes are limited to 10 students.
Our full-service approach to art workshops makes Tallapoosa School of Art a unique pleasure. Plein air easels, in-studio art tables, and table easels are supplied. The studio is on-site and we will enjoy catered meals together. Lovely mountain views are just a short stroll from the studio. Kayaks and canoes are available for our Blue Heron guests before and after classes. Bring your own adult beverages for relaxing on the docks and porches.
